BROOKLIN MODELS
Miniature Metal Cars in 1:43 scale
handmade & handpainted in England. white metal. Very limited production. All Brooklin models are carefully hand-built, often involving many individual pieces. The average production run for a model over a five year period rarely exceeds 3,000 units - as compared to die cast, which are produced in hundreds of thousands. This scarcity, naturally, gives Brooklin models a much higher collectable and rarity factor.
How are they made?
With the selection and research of a new model complete, a brass master is hand-made and then developed to the stage where its components can be duplicated in white metal. These primary stages alone will require approximately 400 hours of highly skilled work.
Once the masters are finished the various types and styles of production moulds will be made and then used throughout the casting room to create the parts required for each model.
When all the individual casting stages are complete, the appropriate finish is applied (i.e. brightwork is electroplated, small parts are hand spray painted as are the body shells once they have been fettled and checked).
With the components now in a finished state, the 3 week period that it will take to assemble this batch of models will now begin.
When assembly is complete, the finished models are checked and packaged before leaving the factory.
The above description is but a brief outline of the skilled work required to produce these beautiful models. Because of the nature of this form of production, this type of white metal model will continue to be made in low volume. Maybe it is precisely this high labor content that gives these models a "charm and feel" all of their own.
