commonly referred to as baseball "blankets" or "felts". designated B-18 by Burdick's American Card Catalog. issued in 1914 with tobacco packages. The cloth felt squares are approx. 5.25" by 5.25" square with a thin brown border around the edge. Often you will find remnants of paper labels still stuck to the reverse from being attached to the product. Sometimes there will be light staining from coming in contact with the tobacco. Hard to find in nice condition as they are often found sewn together as large blankets or covers. A common practice of a bygone era. they have sometimes been trimmed or have frayed edges because of this. Many have been laundered. They do NOT launder well - with a tendency to run and fade. therefore higher conditions are much scarcer to find.
There are 90 different players from ten major league teams in the set. American League and National League. Each player can be found in two color combinations PLUS there are varieties and rarities besides the main issues.
