scarce 1959 LAKE CITY YOUTH CENTER BEARDED VIGILANTES SHAVERS PERMIT. silver on blue. long associated with the state of Washington's Seattle Seafair and the hydroplane boat races. This event late became the "Western Vigilantes". 1965 MISS SMIRNOFF U-90 oval hydroplane pinback button. full color action photo of the boat. 2.75" long oval celluloid. reverse is clean, no rust. colors are bright and strong. there is a tiny "pimple" on the front - typical of many of these pins. Created when too much pressure is placed on the pin on the backside, it pushes forward and makes a small "bump" on the front. Not very noticeable, but because of the rarity of this pin, it needs to be mentioned. no other flaws. Superior condition. 135.00

Possibly unique. uncatalogued 1980 PAY 'N PAK - TURBINE POWER THE PAK IS BACK in '80 hydroplane pinback. Orange background. Please note, that this pin is NOT faded, but it is a totally different color blue than the normal issue. Besides that, note that the pin has a high ridge around the edge, and that the entire center area is recessed. The litho is intact along the edge and rim! approx. 3" diameter tin lithographed. reverse is clean, no rust. no flaws. superior condition. I have NEVER seen or heard of this one. possible test issue. At first thought, I considered it to be a manufacturing fluke, but why such a different color blue. 2nd, if it were a maker error, one would think that the edging would have been damaged, as the crimping machines are not designed to bend like that. 3rd, the button has a pedigreed provenance: it was acquired from hydroplane collector extraordinaire Harvey Hunter (who was the purchaser of the original Unlimited Hydroplane Hall of Fame collection from Bob Williams back in the 1990's). 39.50
