SULLIVAN talking to battered football player with brutal game going on behind them.    artwork by Victor.  colors are strong and bright.   Nice criticism of the game!    measures approx. 13" by 10".  Nice decorative item.  125.00

print.  July 1889 - full color cover from JUDGE Magazine.  Fantastic color lithography shows a donkey, bull, monkey and bulldog dressed as humans.  captioned:  The Animals "AND YET THEY CALL US BRUTES!"  In the background are a group of fans cheering on a boxing match with one of the bare knuckle contenders on the ground and all bloodied!  An absolutely magnificent, and early American anti-boxing item.  artwork was by Gillam.  measures approx. 13" by 9.75".  Shrunkwrap on cardboard backing.  ready to display.  Near mint.  89.50

original sports cartoon.  Signed by artist BROB.  this is an original pen & ink newspaper editorial sports cartoon pertaining to the  FLOYD PATTERSON - INGEMAR JOHANSSON Heavyweight Championship fight.  Although this is undated - it appears to be from the first match in 1959.  small captions refer to: will Patterson stick to his slow start; will Johansson's jab keep him in there so he can use his reserve right; is the Swede's aggressive style made to order for the crisp counter punching Patterson?' answers will be provided tonight.   done on heavy stock.   approx. 17.5" by 14".   this is not a copy but the original one of a kind artwork.  Has been shrunkwrap on  heavy cardboard backing for protection and easy display.  250.00

original sports cartoon.  Signed by artist BROB.  this is an original pen & ink newspaper editorial sports cartoon titled SUETCIDE pertaining to the  FLOYD PATTERSON 6th Round KO in the 1961 Heavyweight Championship fight against Ingemar Johansson.  "In retaining his title FLOYD PATTERSON switched from the leaping left hook of fight #2 to an overhand right - a pair of which chilled the challenger at 2:45 of the sixth round."   done on heavy stock.   approx. 18" by 14".   this is not a copy but the original one of a kind artwork.  Has been shrunkwrap on  heavy cardboard backing for protection and easy display.  225.00

BODY & SOUL Boxing Movie.   United Artists, late 1960’s release of a 1947 film.  Super 8mm Home Movie from the late 1960’s, of John Garfield starring in BODY AND SOUL. A boxer wins the world middleweight championship title in a 'fixed' fight. His deteriorated moral compass leads him away from his loved ones. Academy Award Nominations: 3, including Best Actor--John Garfield, Best Original Screenplay. Academy Awards: Best Film Editing. Photo inset of Garfield, as well as full color artwork of a BOXING SCENE.  5" reel, Film #UA208.  near mint in an excellent to near mint box.   25.00

8 3/4" tall ceramic figural BOXER DOG decanter.  He is sitting on bench with really dazed look on his face.  His head is removeable.  1930's vintage, Japanese.  Marked on base ESD Handpainted with company logo.  High glazed finish.  Beautiful piece.  100.00

"The fighting story of the Champion of the World". 1956, starring Audie Murphy, Barbara Rush, Jeff Morrow, John McIntire, Howard St. John, Chico Vejar, Art Aragon, Cisco Andrade. Great scene of 2 boxers duking it out in the ring. GREAT decorative item for your den, bar or office! This is an original issue, U.S. release, motion picture lobby card. Magnificent condition. Unless stated otherwise, bright vivid colors with no pinholes, no tears, no creases, no flaws. A beautiful display item for your office or den.  near mint to mint.  30.00

Japanese Paper BOXERS mechanical toy, c. late 1940’s to early 1950’s, 5 ¾” by 3 ¼”.   A delightful, and totally different style of toy. 2 Men BOXING. Possibly a “political commentary”. Guy on left resembles ADOLF HITLER with glasses and a large bump on his head that looks like a Penis! The guy on the right with the Large round white eyes – could he possibly represent “America”? . Paper lithoed figures attached to 2 separate pieces of thin wood. When you moved the 2 sticks in opposite directions, they appear to “fight”. Bright and vivid colors. This was not made for export to the U.S., but was sold in Japan only. Great piece, with artwork very reminiscent of that which is found on “Menko” cards.  nm/mint.   39.50
