early HOWELS ROOT BEER mechanical advertising toy.  (sitting position Made in USA.  1920's vintage or earlier.  8.25" tall by 2.25" wide.  Wooden and paper litho on wood. Sides are embossed DRINK HOWEL'S ROOT BEER. Character is wearing a brownie type outfit. His face has some red - almost clown-like - features. His arms and legs are jointed at the hips and shoulders. The two bars side bars are held in place by tight string. As you squeeze the two sides together he spins and twirls and does acrobatic maneuvers. Great action. NOTE that on each side of his hat it says HOWEL'S ROOT BEER. No doubt; he is the mascot; or in modern terms he is an advertising doll? All original and in excellent condition; works great. Minor paper loss on his butt on one side. On the other side; there are some pinhead paper nicks on his hat. (standing position).  Great advertising piece; great toy.    175.00

COCA COLA Tin Serving Tray. 1943.  approx. 10.5” by 13.25”. Called “Girl with Wind in her Hair”. Says HAVE A COKE on the left and right side. And has the COCA COLA logo script on top and bottom. Colors are bright and vivid. There is some edge wear.  and there are some paint chips on her forehead. Reverse has some wear. Displays very nicely. Beautiful full colored celluloid covered sign for WILLS GOLD COAST CIGARETTES “The Cigarette With Personality”. Nice illustration of package “Plain or Cork Tipped”. Nice portrait art of SIR FRANCIS DRAKE with his galleon ship in the background. English cigarette company – sign was obtained in Canada – so may have been distributed there. I believe it to be from the 1920’s or 1930’s vintage. 15” by 17”. Light age spotting in upper left. Small split in celluloid above the “F” in his name (nothing major). Appears to be a celluloid laminate over thin metal. Sturdy and heavy. A magnificent piece if you like tobacco items; English Naval History; or nautical; maritime; advertising in general!   95.00

WRIGLEY'S CHEWING GUM promotional card.  circa 1927-28 (card says "For 35 Years the world has been chewing WRIGLEY'S).  when you open the card there is more advertising and four different gum wrappers. Wrigley's P.K. Chewing Sweet; Beech-Nut Spearmint "Free Sample"; Wrigley's Juicy Fruit; Beech-Nut Wintergreen "Free Sample".   The wrappers slide into place and can be removed - as ascertained by the two Beech Nut wrappers which obviously did not come with a Wrigley's advertising piece.  the Juicy Fruit has small surface tear on reverse otherwise they are all near mint to mint.  First time I have ever seen this ad card.  great item.  65.00
